  • 2015 McWane Ergo Cup Champion

    The 6th Annual McWane Ergo-Cup competition was held on October 21 and once again the McWane family of companies raised the bar! This year 169 team members completed 24 projects from 17 different locations, which surpassed our previous years involvement and number of projects.

    1st Place Champion – Clow Valve Wet Barrel Hydrant

    A custom designed and built assembly station will eliminate the manual intensive requirements of inserting brass inlets into wet barrel hydrants.  The new table is equipped with counter balanced high-torque impact guns, flange clamps, and lockable rotating fixture.  This new table and fixture will allow team members to product hydrants with reduced ergonomic stress to the upper body, neck, arms, shoulders, elbows, and hands.

    Clow Valve - Canada is awarded the Most Improved TRIR Rate - Fabriacation.

    The Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) is determined by taking  the number of incidents occurred in a year’s period which require  medical treatment, restricted work activity, or lost time and  multiplying that by 200,000 and dividing by the total number of hours  worked at the facility during the year. The Most Improved TRIR Rate is  determined by calculating at year end, the TRIR rate for each of our  foundries and looking at the percent improvement when compared to their  previous year end TRIR. The facility with the greatest percentage of  improvement from the previous year is given the award.

    The same process as noted above is done for all other facilities which are not considered a foundry and the award is given for the most improved over their previous year’s rate.

  • 2009 National Ergo Cup

    A team from Clow Valve won the Ergo Cup® Team Driven Workplace Solutions Category Competition at the Applied Ergonomics Conference in 2009. The Ergo Cup gives companies an opportunity to showcase effective ergonomic solutions or education initiatives that they’ve come up with over the previous 24 months. Clow Valve’s innovation required them to re-think how fire hydrants are assembled. The team’s competition for the award included The Boeing Company, Bridgestone/Firestone, GE Energy, Honda of America, and Johnston & Johnson Medical of Brazil.

    Clow Valve Corona is awarded the Outstanding Environmental Progress — Fabrication Award.

    The following factors are considered in the selection process for the current calendar year using the previous calendar year as the baseline:

    • Progress on successful completion of audit and other corrective actions
    • Improvements in overall compliance status
    • Improvements in relationship with regulators (local, state and federal)
    • Changes in quality and amount of resources applied to environmental management
  • 2007 Incident Rate Award

    In 2007, the Clow Valve metal casting facility received an Incident Rate Award from the Iowa/Illinois Safety Council for having an incident rate below the national average.

  • VPPPA Region VII Dale Randall

    In 2012, Clow Valve was chosen to receive the VPPPA Region VII Dale Randall Award which is given to companies that have an unwavering spirit of contribution, participatin and dedication to the success of the VPP and the VPPPA.

  • Winwholesale Waterworks Vendor of the Year

    Clow Valve was named the Winwholesale Waterworks Vendor of the Year for 2012.

  • OSHA Voluntary Protection Program Star Status

    Clow Valve Metal Casting Facility achieved OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star status in 2009. To achieve Star status, not only do all of the safety and health programs need to be exemplary and their management commitment and employee involvement outstanding, but the 3-year injury rates also need to be below the industry average. Prior to achieving Star status, Clow Valve was the first iron and brass foundry operation in the nation to be awarded OSHA’s VPP Merit status.

  • VPP Merit Status

    Clow Valve Machine Shop achieved VPP Merit status in 2009.

  • American Water Works Association Gold Award

    Clow Valve Company’s ad “The Hero Behind the Heroes” was awarded the Gold Award by the American Water Works Association.
